Wildflowers blooming between the vines signal something natural is happening in the vineyards at Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand. These vineyards have harmony, energy, and uniqueness about them that we believe you can taste in our wines. Sustainably farmed fruit with attention to detail in the vineyard is key to a quality harvest. Te Awanga Estate’s Sea views, fertile loams, salty air, coastal climate, sea breeze, and mild day and night temperatures are vital in creating slow ripening, which also intensifies the flavors of both its red and white wines. Quality wine grapes have been grown at Te Awanga for a century, and we are fortunate to have the chance to play our part in bringing to market some of the great wines of Hawke’s Bay and New Zealand.
Wildsong wines are uncomplicated and grounded with a gentle tale or two, telling of the soil they were grown in and the people who made them. These wines are up-front tasty, yet they’re not simple. Layered, interesting, and backed by winemaking street-cred. Grown with respect, made with heart, and packed with attitude. There’s a little Wildsong in each of us.
NEW ZEALAND ORGANIC JOURNEY
Rod McDonald, a renowned winemaker, wine lover, and general Te Awanga Estate overseer, started the New Zealand Organic Journey in 2013. As of this year, they're farming 100% organically with around 50% BioGro Certified and 50% in conversion.
Te Awanga Estate's wines clearly bear the signature of its winemaker, not the written one, but in their quality of package and liquid. His passion is in every bottle.
